A guide to talent search programs

Since Duke TIP closed its doors three years ago, I’ve been on the lookout for other talent search programs for students in our area. Thankfully, today I found out about a list of talent search programs all over the United States, published by the Davidson Institute.

Details provided for each program include the ages served, the qualification requirements, and what type of programming they provide. Out-of-state programs on weekends for younger kids probably won’t be of much use, but some of the programs have online classes, and summer programs outside the southeast might be worth considering for older kids.

    Thanks Dori and Giftedatlanta,
Our school had several students who had the great opportunity to be apart of the Duke Tip Program. Since Duke Tip its closing, I have been unable to find similar programs for our present awesome students. Thanks for providing a list. I am excited to pass on the information as I hope other teachers, counselors and patents are also. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your comment. It’s always nice to hear that I’m helping someone. Duke TIP was a great resource for gifted children in the Southeast, and I was surprised and disappointed when they shuttered. Luckily, the community of researchers who are interested in gifted children seems to have realized the importance of filling the gap.
