Observatory season kicks off at Tellus Museum
With the change of seasons and the switch back to standard time, Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville has announced the dates for its fall and winter Evening Sky Watch events in its on-site observatory.
The museum explains that in fall and winter, not only does darkness come earlier in the evening, but lower humidity yields “crisper views” of the moon and planets.
Evening Sky Watch sessions will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on the following dates:
- Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026
- Friday, Nov. 13, 2026
- Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026
- Friday, Dec. 18, 2026
- Friday, Jan. 8, 2027
- Saturday, Jan. 16, 2027
- Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027
- Friday, Feb. 26, 2027
Admission to the observatory is $6 per person. This doesn’t include admission to the main museum, which will be closed when the evening program begins. Tellus recommends buying tickets in advance, as the observatory has limited capacity. You can buy tickets using the link in the first paragraph of this post.
Tellus also wants people to know the actual time you’re able to look through the telescope will depend on how many people are there, and that observatory events may be cancelled if the sky is cloudy.
